All killer, no filler NFL betting: Week 14
by Karl Yu, WinnerOnline
9 December, 2006

SPORTS

The end of the season is drawing near and the playoff races are heating up. Only two teams have been officially knocked out (Oakland and Detroit) and the rest are sprinting for the finish line, with visions of playoff berths dancing in their heads. (All trends provided by everyedge.com)

Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars – Alltell Stadium (Grass)

Line: Colts -1 (Opening: Colts -2½)

Over/Under: 44 (Opening: 43)

Records: Colts 10-2 (7-5 ATS), Jaguars 7-5 (7-5 ATS)

Game Time: 1 pm EST

Key Points: More than a few Colts are being bothered by knee injuries of varying degrees. They include: TE Dallas Clark (out), WR Brandon Stokley (questionable), S Bob Sanders (game-time decision) and DE Robert Mathis (probable).

All of Jacksonville’s usual suspects are more than likely to play, with no significant injuries to report. However, RB Maurice Jones-Drew has an injured hamstring and DT Marcus Stroud’s ankle is less than 100 percent. But both are listed as probable so don’t expect them to miss any action.

The visitor in this series is 5-2-1 ATS.

Indianapolis is 3-6 ATS in their last nine meetings with Jacksonville and is 9-1 ATS after a divisional road game.

The Colts lost to Tennessee 20-17 last week and are 11-2-1 ATS after a matchup with the Titans.

Indianapolis is 5-0 ATS in the second of back-to-back road games.

Jacksonville is 11-1 ATS before a matchup with Tennessee.

Jacksonville is 2-7-1 ATS when hosting opponents in December with a winning percentage of .500 or better.

The Jaguars are 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games.

Jacksonville is 7-2-1 ATS after back-to-back road games.

The Jags have the NFL’s fourth best defense allowing 278.9 yards of total offense a game.

Indy has the league’s third best offense, rattling off 384.9 yards of total offense a game.

A win or tie by the Colts will guarantee them the AFC South title.

WinnerOnline Opinion: Tough one to call, but Indy should be motivated not only because they lost last week, but because they can clinch another South division title as well. It will be a close one too, so take the Colts to cover the one point.
