Sadly, there weren’t as many major upsets this year as in previous first round matchups. Sure Winthrop knocked off Notre Dame and VCU left Duke feeling a little blue, but upsets of the Northwestern St.-Iowa, Bradley-Kansas variety were few and far between.
That being said, the weak have been weeded and there are some intriguing matchups in the Round of 16 in this year’s March Madness that will attract the attention of fans and bettors.

Florida (1) vs. Butler (5) — March 23, 2007
Line: Florida -10½
Over/Under: 125
The defending champs are looking quite dangerous. Although they walked all over Jackson St., they got a scare from Purdue, relying on Corey Brewer and Al Horford to propel them to a 74-67 win. But the near-loss can only serve as a shot of caffeine to their systems.
The Gators are 5-1 ATS in their last six.
Butler took down Old Dominion 57-46 in the first round and edged Maryland 62-59 on the weekend.
The Bulldogs are on a two-game ATS win streak.
Oregon (3) vs. UNLV (7) — March 23, 2007
Line: Oregon -2
Over/Under: 140
UNLV pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the first two rounds when they beat Wisconsin 74-68 on Sunday. Have they peaked? Maybe not, they are on a six game ATS tear; in fact they are 8-2 against the number in their last 10 and 9-1 straight up.
Oregon won a close game against Miami of Ohio in the first round and downed a Winthrop team that was still high off a win against ND in the second and are on a hot streak of their own, going 7-3 ATS in their last 10.
