NBA Franchise Headed For Las Vegas? Updated 15 Feb 07
With the NBA's All Star showcase set to take place in Vegas this week, the question was put to NBA commish David Stern, "What are the chances of Las Vegas landing a team?"
Stern said that if the owners wanted a team in Las Vegas, he would have to consider it.
There are two sticking points: An arena and gambling.
Stern recently spoke to Las Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman about the possibility of a franchise and gave his views on gambling.
"48 states have lotteries. There's video poker, slot machines. I just have this one little issue: I have a problem with betting on basketball," said the commissioner.
